Airport travel OOTD + the best holiday weekend sales
Happy Sunday! Just landed in San Francisco, my home away from home, and am indulging in all of the amazing & diverse food this city offers. I posted this simple look on Instagram and wanted to quickly answer some fit questions on each piece. This tunic sweater is on double sale right now and runs true to size - it's the perfect length for covering up the crotch area, and I love that the sleeve length actually fits shorter arms! There is a small triangular piece of fabric lining the inside, behind the lace-up detail, which keeps your chest area completely covered up. You can cut this piece out if desired, as not much skin is bared even without it.
I wanted to get a second pair of Zella's awesome live-in leggings, and saw this new "midi" length with a 24.5" inseam. It hits right below the ankle for someone my height without alterations needed, and has the same flattering mid rise and reversible fabric as the original live-ins. Last but not least, I can't get enough of these chestnut suede ankle booties. If you have narrow ankles and hate the feeling of them swishing around in gaping ankle openings, these boots fit slim across the top and are very leg-flattering as a result. The fit is true to size - I'm usually between 5 and 5.5, and found a 5 to fit best with thin socks on.

The morning just opened hazy sleepy eyes, sleep has not yet completely dissipated, ushered in a new day. Instagram feeds
Behind nearly all of those stunning foodie Instagram feeds is a pro who styles and shoots her food with lighting and backdrops and all kinds of props. But Jane Ko is a restaurant blogger, so she takes her food pics like the rest of us do: in the restaurant. She can't bring fancy lights with her. She'll get yelled at if she climbs up on a chair for the perfect shot (though she does it sometimes anyway).
And Jane she didn't start off as a great photographer. She's entirely self-taught, and her talk at the BlogHerFood16 conference in Austin earlier this month, Jane confessed to a very relatable phase where she got way too filter-happy. But now, her Insta feed is gorgeous proof that as long as you stay with it and continue shooting photos over time, they will get better — especially if you follow these four tips:
Tell a story with styling
Think about your photo even before you take out your phone. What's in the background? Jane believes in showing who's eating: a friend reaching in to take the first bite of that taco, a friends at brunch with hands digging in, or your kids running around in the background. Those details tell a story—and stories connect people to you.
Natural lighting is your best friend
Natural light makes way prettier photos than flash, but it's hard to get in restaurants. Jane's bold: She'll walk her plate over to a window, even if she wasn't seated there. She also eats a lot of daytime meals, so she can chase that light.
